Age of Consent to have SEXUAL INTERCOURSE

17 Yrs. if you are a young women in N. Ireland.
If a young women under 17 has sex the young women does not actually commit a criminal offence but the man does.

There is no statutory age limit in respect of males having sexual intercourse but a male under 17 cannot lawfully consent to any homosexual act.

If a young women over 17 has sexual intercourse with a young man who is under 14 this is a criminal offence and she could be prosecuted for indecent conduct towards a child. It is a criminal offence to commit an act of gross indecency with a child under 14 Yrs.

A young man under 14 in N. Ireland is considered to be incapable of committing rape. In N. Ireland a young man under 14 can be prosecuted for aiding and abetting the crime of rape or indecent assault.
