RECEIVE Contraceptive Advice & Supplies

In certain circumstances a doctor or other health professional can provide contraceptive advice and supplies if you are under 16 without your parents' consent, if you fully understand the nature of the advice being given to you and in accordance with what are known as The Gillick Principles (You can obtain information about these guidelines from your local Family Planning Clinic).

If you are under 16 it is likely that the doctor or health professional will encourage you to discuss these matters with your parents.

You can obtain free contraception, including condoms in accordance with the above guidelines from the Family Planning Clinics and the Belfast Brook Advisory Centre.

You can also contact these organisations for information and advice on sexually transmitted infections. (See useful Numbers section)
